Hot lips: CoverGirl Lip Perfection

15 Jun

I know it’s getting a bit redundant, but I learnt about a lipstick that has changed my life from Janine over on BeautyGeeks. Because she’s pretty much my number one source for the low-down on beauty products.

When I saw the July cover of Flare Magazine, I knew I had to have a new fuchsia lipstick.

Then the universe heard me and Janine tweeted about two drugstore lipsticks that rivalled the much blogged about Joe Fresh Beauty Matte Lipstick in Fuchsia.

Low and behold one of them, CoverGirl Lip Perfection in Spellbound.

Peeps. This stuff does. not. come. off.

Coffee, water bottle, apple slices, brownie, yogurt. It can withstand it all. You will very rarely be left with old lady lipstick remnants on your lips. I know you know what I’m taking about.

In unrelated news. I only have two poses in photos. Silly. And sillier. I need help. With that.

Orange you lovely: new lipstick is fun

21 Mar

Everywhere you look, you hear about how orange is the IT colour for spring.

Well. At least everywhere I look. I don’t really know where you’re looking. You might be looking in the place that is talking all about honeysuckle as the colour of the year or whatever.

Lame. Not as fun as orange.

Amplified lipstick in Neon Orange from M.A.C. was in the Globe and Mail Style section this weekend, and it’s getting coverage on a myriad of blogs.

Obviously I had to have it.

The thing about lipstick is, if you only have time in the morning for mascara, powder and blush, which is often the case with me, you can jazz up your look just by applying lipstick on the metro on the way to work.

Did I just say “jazz up”?

Yep. I sure did.

Having fun with eyeshadow has the advantage of not getting on your teeth or wearing off when you drink your coffee. But it also requires a lot more time in front of the mirror in the morning. Time I could be using to sleep and/or sit on the floor in the shower.

What? You totally do it too. I do my best thinking down there.

Neon Orange is not for the faint of heart. It’s far more neon than you can see in this iPhone self-portrait. Remember the Zinc you used to put on  your nose as a kid? Yah. That.

Spoiled brat: treat yourself to Chanel

9 Feb

The only Chanel items are own are a pair of sunglasses and some bronzer. Not just some bronzer. The best bronzer. I mean, it comes in a velvet case.

And even though I’m on a self-imposed spending freeze, I’m very good at finding reasons to buy things. With Valentine’s Day coming up, it seemed like a pretty good excuse to treat myself to a Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick.

Self-love counts, right?

This particular glossy shade, featured in the ad campaign with Vanessa Paradis, is called Boy. Apparently named after Coco’s man-friend. Ooh la la.
