The Daily Polish

21 Nov

Once in a while, I come up with a nail polish combination that I kind of want to just stare at all day. This is one of those combinations. I love it. L-O-V-E.

I may or may not have done my nails four times this weekend. I was trying out some new polishes I was sent recently, and I wasn’t loving any of it. Then I did a manicure for a friend, and was kind of jealous of it, which lead to this creation. Essie Carry On from the fall collection and Sephora by OPI Traffic Stopper Copper glitter.

It feels like toasted marshmallows on my nails. Or something.

A twinkle in your eye: glitter makeup

Wow. I have nail polish that looks like this. Am I prepared to wear the same look on my eyelids? Yes. Yes I am.

See this post on Little Miss Makeup for the step by step instructions.

The Daily Polish: glitter crazy

There were a lot of manicures recently, and they were mostly glitter manicures. It’s kind of like when you discover a new favourite outfit and you just keep wearing it over and over again. No? Just me?

OPI Black Onyx with China Glaze Nova glitter. Pretty classy, I think.

I can’t believe my new bottle of China Glaze Nova glitter sat untouched for over a week. I had other things I had to try first, I guess.

illamasqua in Collide with two coats of Nova on top. It’s kind of half Barbie, half 80s prom dress. It’s a little out of my sleek and modern comfort zone, but I embraced it.

And then I did a glitter sandwich. A technique I learned from my friend Marie-Helene. I put a coat of Essie’s Adore-a-ball, a natural pink shade, on top and voila. A muted version of the Barbie slash 80s prom dress manicure. You like?

This is kind of a deceiving manicure. It looks like it takes forever. But it really doesn’t. I followed a tutorial for gradient nails on YouTube here. The trick is having the three match-y colours. After that, it’s easy-peasy.
